LAST WEEK, MY MOTHER MAUREEN CELEBRATED HER 69TH BIRTHDAY. ON MONDAY, SHE RECEIVED THE UNEXPECTED NEWS THAT SHE NEEDED TO HAVE OPEN HEART SURGERY THE FOLLOWING DAY. WHEN I GOT WORD LATE MONDAY, I FLEW TO PALM SPRINGS, CALIFORNIA FIRST THING TUESDAY TO SEE HER. MY DAD AND BROTHER IAN WERE THERE TO SUPPORT HER THROUGH HER QUADRUPLE BYPASS. FOR AS SERIOUS AS THE SITUATION WAS/IS, I HAVE LAUGHED SO MUCH. MY FAMILY HAS BEEN BLESSED WITH SUCH AN AWESOME SENSE OF HUMOR. BECAUSE MY MOM WAS BORN IN IRELAND (BELFAST) , I CAN'T HELP BUT THINK SHE WAS BLESSED WITH A LIL LUCK TOO. SOON AFTER HER SURGERY, WHEN SHE AWOKE, SHE HAD A SMILE ON HER FACE AND APPEARED TO BE GETTING STRONGER. SHE IS A TOUGH AMAZING WOMAN WHO I AM PROUD TO CALL "MOM". When I look back on 2007, it was an amazing year. It was a year filled with life moments, ups, downs and clarity. It was a year filled with great rewards and challenges. It was a year that brought me awesome new friends and recharged old relationships. My 40th year proved to be a year of growth for me personally and professionally. I have learned so much about myself and look forward to carrying that momentum into the new year.

A RANDOM LOOK BACK ON THE YEAR

In 2007......I started a soccer league with my family and close friends....I turned 40...went to The Grammys...celebrated St. Patty's Day in Key West...bought a new car...introduced my daughter to Corbin Bleau from High School Musical...missed a hole-in-one at Firestone by inches...met Eva Longoria...saw my favorite band LIVE in three different venues...went to the NBA Finals.....was at every Tribe play-off game....introduced BARACK OBAMA at his first rally in Cleveland....shaved my head on live TV...

On a personal level, I have enjoyed the mornings when my wife Sue co-hosted for Rebecca. I was very proud of her this summer when she completed her first half marathon. She is an amazing woman who has done many positive things for many people.

My daughter Gabby continues to amaze me every day. She continues to grow into a fine young lady. I am proud to be her dad and have enjoyed a great year with her.

...THE WILDE AND FEE show was nominated as one of the top morning shows in the country (we still need to send them a check : ))...we raised $127,000 for the Cleveland APL...we have helped raise countless thousands of dollars for Q CARES FOR KIDS and the Children's Hospital at The Cleveland Clinic...we even enjoyed our first ever busboard campaign...

It has been a great pleasure to host the show with REBECCA, GLENN, NICK, LETHARGIC MARK, INTERN DINA and the entire crew in the morning. SKIPPY THE PROGRAM DIRECTOR has been a great gift to the show and deserves a great deal of credit in making our show happen. I look forward to returning to the air in January.

From my family at home and my on-air family, have an amazing holiday season! Thank you for all the good times in 2007! Bring on 2008!!!

My friend Megan and I braved the elements on Sunday for the BROWNS win over Buffalo. It was hard to take a good pic in the brutal cold. When we look back on the season, a lot of people will claim to have been at this game...here is my proof.....
....the grounds crew used snowblowers between plays to mark of the yardage......
....The BROWNIES eventually hung on to win the game 8-0.......
At the start of the seaon, I took a lot of grief for predicting the BROWNS would make the play-offs with a 10-6 record....We are now one win away from achieving both!!!! Don't count the BROWNS out once they do make the play-offs...this team is actually a lot better than it was at the start of the season! I predict at least one play-off win......

My best friend WOODY made a surprise visit to Cleveland from Seattle for my birthday this past week! His visit came at just the right time. It was awesome seeing him.....and just when I thought I had recovered from the parties and good times, along came AQSTIC CHRISTMAS.....

MARIE DIGBY stopped by the show Monday morning. She was very cool and a pleasure to meet. She has a great story of building her career on myspace.

SPORTS

Many people thought that my BROWNS playoff prediction was a bit lofty. Many said I was cursing the team....and now, all we have to do is beat Buffalo....The Cavs make the finals, The Tribe have a great season and now the BROWNS are on the edge of the unthinkable....am I really cursing the team?

My daughter Gabby's indoor soccer team won it's second game of the season this past weekend. Gabs scored her 4th goal of the season in the win.

...and finally...a quick shoutout to my friend COREY who flew in from LA this past week. She made it to my 40th birthday.....so awesome seeing her....you may remember her from our show doing reports for The Geauga Humane Society and the APL. She is one of my all time favorite people......

My U-10 girls indoor team won it's first game on Saturday night. The team was awesome in it's 10-6 win. Several players scored more than one goal...including my daughter Gabby who scored her first three goals of the indoor season! The girls lost on 4-0 on Sunday but are improving each game. This is a fun team with a lot of personality!

During Tuesday's show, REBECCA had brought up a news story about E. D. ...yes, that E.D....her story talked about "natural" ways to correct E.D. It started a conversation where I asked about VIAGRA and CYALIS and other drugs that are intended to help E.D....quickly, E.D. became "my good friend Ed."....then later, E.D. became "MR. ED"...as in the talking horse. The topic took on a life of its own. Now, a day later, I have received serveral emails to our website and myspace account. This photoshop moment made me laugh....

The BROWNS were in Oakland on Sunday, but that didn't stop us from tailgating all over the city! A bunch of us took a bus all over Cleveland with stops at BROWNS STADIUM, KNOCKOUTS, SCOUNDRALS, and WESTPARK STATION. I had not spent any time at KAMM'S CORNER but I plan to be back a lot. I love that area! Especially the new PJ's Irish bar there.

On Friday, Rebecca and I stopped by Nordstrom on their 10th anniversary. Friend of the show, FRAN BROUDA was there to keep us stylin'.....
CHRIS and KIM helped keep the day festive. CHRIS was shinin' shoes and KIM helped me try on EVERY pair of shoes in the store...

These were pretty cool, but I didn't have the guts to buy them!

I snapped this picture of my daughter Gabby on Saturday during our first ever games for our new soccer league. This picture really stood out to me because my lil girl is growin' up fast! She's only 8, but when I saw this picture, I couldn't help but see the young lady that she is fast becoming. My lil baby who once looked cute kickin' the soccer ball around, is now a soccer player. I'm so proud of who she is and what she has accomplished in her young life. I'm so very aware of this precious time and I breathe it in slowly every day. The game of soccer has provided me and my family with so many awesome moments...... Watching Gabby grow up from being a shy lil girl to a young lady having a blast with her friends playing a game has been, and continues to be priceless.

My wife Sue completed her first-ever half-marathon this past weekend. She has been training for the last several months and is in the best shape of her life. My daughter Gabby and I were at the finish line to greet her as she finished! I'm so proud of her and appreciate such an awesome role-model for our daughter.

We may have lost the opener to the STEELERS on Sunday, but before the game, we had a blast in The Muni Lot! Mario and The BROWNSBACKERS put on quite the party! I have to admit, I was surprised the game was so rough...I expected a bit more. After one game, I already have this "wait til next year" vibe.....kinda like the last 7 years...I hope Brady Quinn gets the chance to show what he can do....but he needs more of a team to support him...Either way, we'll have a blast all season tailgatin'...and that's what it's all about, right???

On Sunday, I played FIRESTONE's SOUTH COURSE for the third time. The South Course is the famous course where the PGA holds a tournament every year. As a golfer, it's a great thrill to play a course where EVERY major golfer who has played the game has played. My goal has been simple; to break 100 at Firestone on The South Course. Today, I missed a thirty-foot putt from off the green on the 18th hole that would have given me a 99 !
As I stood in the tee-box at the famous 18th hole, I knew I had to make par to break 100. After I posed for this pic, I proceeded to launch the ball to the left trees. I had gotten out of trouble and gave myself a shot at par with a long putt....but it missed....UGH! The "CURSE OF FIRSTONE" strikes again! On that same hole a few years ago, I stepped up to the tee-box needing only a 9 to break 100 .....would you believe I hit into the trees, tried to hit out, hit out again and totally torched the hole?!?!?! I missed a short 5-foot putt that would have given me a 99! Instead, I shot a 10 on the 18th hole!!!!! UGH!!!! I need to reverse the curse!

STOMP Bike Ride in Summit County

My long time biking "wingman" Cindy and I tackled the STOMP bike ride on Saturday. STOMP is a 65-mile bike ride through the hilly terrain of Summit County and not far from where I live. Cindy and I have biked PEDAL TO THE POINT and have gone on several long rides on the several biking trails in the area.

The weather for the ride was spectacular. The scenery was gorgeous!

Our ride hit a snag when we came across this huge barn fire near Norton. Clearly this was the most excitement the area had seen in quite some time. Several people came out to watch and several emergency vehicles blocked our path.
After the 20-minute "fire break", we continued on and tackled as many of the difficult hills as we could. Because of our late start and my lack of training in July (injury), our ride came to an end at 52 miles. Although I am confident Cindy could have closed out the ride, we decided to call it and get support to take us the rest of the way. We made it 52 of the 65 miles. I am disappointd we did not finish and was surprised by a few of the HUGE hills. PEDAL TO THE POINT is a mostly flat ride. I feel like I should have been much better prepared for this ride. Overall, however, we had a blast. We laughed a lot....especially when the support team showed up......
Who knew they called the ride STOMP because it would "STOMP us....?

SEVEN YEARS AT Q104.....

When I arrived in Cleveland seven years ago, I had no idea I would end up co-hosting the morning show. It's been an exciting time in my life full of many great memories and challenges. In fact, when I started co-hosting the show a couple of years ago, I had no idea that the WILDE AND FEE show would grow in to what it is today. At the time, I figured I was just filling in until a new co-host for Rebecca arrived. My early time on the show was tough for me personally and I'm sure tougher for the listeners. It can be difficult accepting a new voice on to the radio in the morning. With a lot of strong support from my family and the people here at Q104, I have been given a chance of a lifetime. It is awesome to wake up and play on the radio each morning. Working with strong talent like Rebecca, Glenn and Nick and having support from an excellent managment team has made all the difference. Skppy's coaching and Chris Maduri (our big big boss) guidance have helped us grown into a a show we are proud of.
It's hard to believe it's been 7 years in Cleveland. The time has rolled quickly. Our show has built a wonderful following. The people we meet, who write in and call are awesome! They truly have been like a family to us.
Off air, life in Cleveland has been awesome. From starting a soccer league to taking full advantage of all that Northeast Ohio has to offer, it's been a great ride.....here's to seven more years!

This weekend, we are putting the finishing touches on the soccer league league we started in Sagamore Hills, Northfield, Northfield Center and Macedonia. The Nordonia Hills Soccer Associatin begins practice this Thursday. Games begin the week of Labor Day. I am so excited to be a part of this league. My friend Tom and I started this as a dream to help grow soccer in Northeast Ohio. The response has been huge. We expected 80-100 players and ended up with 177!! I'm so happy with the response and I'm looking forward to seeing my daughter play this Fall.
On Saturday, we passed out uniforms to the players and ran through some of our soccer drills. My daughter Gabby took a break in the hot weather when I snapped this pic.

My daughter Gabby started third grade yesterday...she is growing up so quickly...she asked me to get her the HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL 2 CD and cranked it all afternoon. I became my dad when I yelled up to her room..."GABBY....TURN THAT MUSIC DOWN!!!!" UGH... She is excited to be back in school...I'm afraid to blink...she'll be in high school askin' for the car keys soon.......OY!

My four day weekend was severely changed by the wet weather...The round of golf at Firestone was washed away on Monday. My very close friends Andy and Jeff came in from Michigan for a long weekend of golf. On Sunday, we played a very wet Sleepy Hollow golf course (my home course). We teed off in a total downpour and were the only people on the course.....we had to, just to say we did....

On Saturday night, we met up with ROB KRUZ for the BROWNS pre-season game against Detorit. Brady Quinn looked pretty strong against the Lions. I'm excited...but we have been here before. He's not Bernie Kosar......yet.
My soccer dad friend Tom and I put the finishing touches on our soccer league. We have signed up 171 kids to play in the Nordonia Hills Soccer Association. We started the league together for kids aged 4-10 years old. My friend TIFFANY SHEA rocks!!!....literally. She came over to the house Sunday night for a jam session with my friend Andy from the band DOMESTIC PROBLEMS. The two had never met but jammed by candlelight for a small group of my closest friends. My daughter Gabby even got a guitar lesson....it was one of those very special life moments. We had so much fun. Tiffany and Andy did a version of Peter Gabriel's "In Your Eyes" that was so amazing. WOW! What a great night.

THE BACKSTREET BOYS stopped by Monday morning. Nick and Howie are on a nationwide promo tour that is taking them to radio stations all over the country. This is our second in-studio interviw with the band and once again they were awesome. They are very kind and cool to hang with. They are putting their final touches on the new disc and already have a new song on Q104. Nick looks great! He's down 40 pounds and says he's living a clearner lifestyle. PEDAL TO THE POINT is coming up in just a few weeks. Like last year, I am going to wait to the last minute to decide whether or not I'm going to ride in the event. My friend Cindy and I knocked out a quick 16-mile training ride on Saturday morning. Last year, she talked me into PEDAL TO THE POINT. We braved rain and other obstacles and got through it. I have to admit, day two was particulary taxing. I'm in better shape this year and will decide soon if I am going to ride.

One of my favorite bars in the city is HOOPLES in the flats. Its such an awesome casual hang.
In particular, Thursday nights are awesome because of the live music. Those who know why understand what I'm saying. I'm sworn to secrecy and can't tell you why the music is that good on Thursdays. HOOPLES is one of my top picks for my 40th birthday location...."LETHARGIC MARK" and I we hangin' there last night....good times....

It's the third time I have seen him and I highly recommend that you get to know him and his music. At age 25, he is way beyond his years. His voice and passion are so powerful. He is the real deal and will be around for a long time. He is a heartbeat away from becomming a household name.

The LIVE show at Eastlake Tuesday night was awesome! I'm a huge fan of the band and love seein' them perform live. Their music is so powerful to me. So many of their songs have touched my life in many ways. At Tuesday night's show, "STOOD UP FOR LOVE" was by far my favorite song. I was hoping to hear "DANCE WITH YOU"..that song has such awesome deep meaning in my world. The band is all about passion and connection-the keys to life. I don't mean to make it sound like so much more than a show...BUT for me, LIVE is so much more than that. They always seem to come into the area when I need to see them. They just announced another Cleveland show at HOB at the end of August!

On Monday night, I had the chance to hang in the CONTINENTAL AIRLINES suite at The Jake. This is the suite directly connected to the visiting team's dugout. It was an awesome experience and a great way to see a baseball game...too bad we lost 6-2.

BOWLING FOR SOUP played a Q104 Listener Appreciation show on Sunday afternoon at DAVE and BUSTERs.....
Q104 night guy ROB KRUZE and I hosted the show. Before the crowd came on stage, ROB and I answered questions about Q104. We had a great crowd who asked anything from how to win tix to concerts to if ROB was single. To the best of my knowledge, ROB has been dating his hair for about six months.
