Former Brown's player Bob Golic's wife Karen applies eyeliner to me before our opening performance in the Nutcracker Saturday afternoon.
Karen is my dance partner in the "party scene" of the Nutcracker. As a former Raider cheerleader and professional dancer, she has been more than patient with me and my "Jerry Spriner-like" dance skills. Although, when her husband Bob isn't around, she says I'm much more graceful than Bob is on the dance floor.
My daughter Gabby got a new dress for opening day of The Nutcracker. When asked about my performance, she simply said, "..uh, it was pretty good....can we go now??"
My daughter Gabby enjoyed the parade in Akron before heading into the Civic Theatre for opening day at the Nutcracker.
Val (left) has been a huge help in getting me prepared and keeping me in line backstage. Chris, the director, (right) has had to put up with me distracting the rest of the cast and has had the nearly impossible task of making me "look like a dancer." Both Val and Chris are awesome and fun to work with. I can't tell you how much I appreciate all they have done for me.
My parents are in town and were able to see their grandaughter Gabby score a goal in Sunday's 10-0 win! The Pirates are now 2-1 this season and playing very well together. It's very exciting to see several different players score goals in the game, we are really growing as a team.
Gabby, Peter, Anthony Hannah and Steven get together for a pre-game pizza.
My daughter Gabby and I attended the NUTCRACKER press conference party Thursday night in Akron. It included a mini-performance with the cast. The show runs November 25 - December 3 at Akron Civic Theatre. I will be in the opening party scene for several performances. I have NEVER danced on a stage and now I will be in front of 2,000 people each night. This is a long way from DANCING WITH THE STARS!
My dance partner happens to be Karen Golic. She is a professional dancer and former Oakland Raiders Cheerleader.....oh, and she happens to be married to former CLEVELAND BROWNS player BOB GOLIC..oh, by the way....Bob is also in several of the shows...AND, he is a very big man......there are rumblings that if I make his wife look bad in any of the dance scenes, he is going to treat me like a quarterback in an all-out blitz. If you don't get the football talk, just know that it simply means, I have "issues". I post these pix of me and Gabs in an effort to let Bob know to go easy on me.
"THE PIRATES" lost their first indoor game of the season on Sunday, losing to Aurora 7-5. After winning last week's opener, we fell to 1-1 for the season. The indoor game is much faster paced and we got out hustled down the stretch. As shown in this post game snack time photo, we need to work on our off season conditioning.
I'm coaching my daughter's fall indoor team this season. PIRATE NATION FC won their opener 8-4. My daughter Gabby scored 2 goals and had a blast! Sunday's game was one of the most exciting youth soccer games I have been apart of. Steven and Gabby had huge games in "The Pirates" win.
Gabs and I are all smiles after the big win Sunday.
The Cavs beat the Wizards in the season opener Wednesday night. I had a chance to go behind-the-scenes and hang with Cavs legend and General Manager Danny Ferry. He's sayin' the Cavs are real contenders for a title and that we should expect a huge season! The new slogan "Light it Up" had real meaning as the 8-million dollar improvements to The 'Q' included fire shooting from the scoreboard. The new, lighter colored floor looked cool too!
