WILDE AND FEE FOR FIGHTING

John from FIVE FOR FIGHTING stopped by our show Thursday morning to perform live in our new studio. He has a new song on Q104 called THE RIDDLE. It's a great song if you have kids. John wrote the song based on a conversation he had with his 5 year old son.
I first met John when he played BOO BASH a couple of years ago. He is a very nice guy and a wonderful musician.
FIVE FOR FIGHTING is expected to have thier new CD in stores on August 1 and will come back to play in Cleveland in October sometime. Also, big ups to GLENN THE FUNNY SONG man for backing up John on vocals.

LEMONADE STANDS

There is a special place in my heart for lemonade stands. Today marks the first time ever that my daughter put together her own lemonade stand. Gabby is still perfecting her craft. Although she uses freshly squeezed lemons, she tends to make it a tad watery. In the picture, note the huge sack of sugar to help mask any shortcomings. Clearly, my daughter is part of the Starbuck's generation...she is charging 50 cents a small cup. Earlier this summer, I stopped at a stand in the subdivision and only paid 10 cents. I guess price gouging isn't limited to just the oil companies.

In my adult life, I have never passed on stopping at a lemonade stand. To me, it's such an awesome feeling to see how happy the kids are when you pay top dollar for their effort. Every kid should have a lemonade stand at some point in their life. It teaches the kids so much and helps remind us what bein' a kid is all about. It's only a matter of time before our kids will be asking for cell phones and computers. Encourage them to start a lemonade stand while there is still time!

AWESOME WEEKEND!!!

What a great weekend! Friday night I went to The Jake for The Tribe and the Reds. Cool to see a good crowd and great weather for the game...if only we were winnin'.....After the game, headed over to HILARITIES for Richard Jeni. That's the first time I have seen him-he's pretty strong. Loved it!

Checked out OAR Saturday night at TCA. Good show. Good night for a show there. Felt pretty old at the show....pretty young crowd.

On Sunday, we took my daughter Gabby to Brecksville Home Days for the fireworks and carnival. She had a blast. Won some stuff and ate one of her favorite treats, DIPPIN' DOTS.

Above, Gabby goes fishin' for prizes. Although both Gabs and carinval worker guy look deeply concerned, no plastic fish were injured.
At 7 years old, my daughter is talented at many things...throwin' darts at balloons for prizes, is not one of them. After ten dollars worth of darts, sympathetic carnival worker guy finally gave Gabs a courtesy stuffed animal. Next time, we cut out the middle man and go straight to the stuffed animal store.

The fireworks show was great.

Overall, an awesome weekend!

FESTIVE FRIDAY IN NEW STUDIO!!!

After surviving Thursday's monsoon in Cleveland, we showed up for our Festive Friday show in our brand new studio. Lethargic Mark and Phone Screener Cherise covered for Producer Nick who is enjoyin' some time off in New York. Mark and Cherise are key players behind-the-scenes of our show. Mark is our Saturday morning producer. Cherise is often the voice you hear when you call into our show in the morning. They are both dear friends and awesome people.
Glenn The Funny Song Man is still beamin' from his wedding earlier this month. He had a big week this week as he knocked out a couple of big hit songs for our show including LIL P's hit song about Britney and K-Fed's baby Sean Preston and the Bernie Kosar song.

Quick Notes: Great to be in our brand new studio. Big ups to Engineer Ray and crew for creating our new home for the show.

I took a lil heat from Comedian Richard Jeni this morning for confusing him with Kevin Pollack. I asked Richard to do his William Shatner impression...ooops....ya know, they do look the same..I'm just sayin'......Richard will be at Hilarities all weekend, uh, try the veal!

Musical thoughts...The new John Mayer song is awesome...I hope the full CD sounds like this!

Best song on Q104 right now: Snow Patrol/Chasing Cars

Weekend plans...Tribe game against Reds...Richard Jeni show...Golf...Bike ride.

Have a great weekend...

NEW Q104 STUDIO ALMOST DONE...

Our new on-air studio is nearing completion. Our Festive Friday show should be live from the brand new main studio...Below, ENGINEER RAY shows us his best side as he puts the finishing touches on our world class facility. In the picture, you see ENGINEER RAY wiring the FLUX CAPICITOR that has enough jigga-watts to broadcast our show from downtown Cleveland to Elyria and some parts of Amish country. Ray is a talented broadcaster who has never crossed his streams. As we snapped the bloggable pic of Ray, he said, "I'm only doing this so you guys don't call me early in the morning to keep fixing things!" It's safe to say that we love ENGINEER RAY more than he loves us. BELOW is a great, uh, action shot of Lethargic Mark, me and Intern Mike "working" on the studio. Our years of broadcast training have enabled us to assist the engineers in this very complex work. The engineers even told us that we were really good at staying out of the way and stuff....
ABOVE is a picture of the almost complete main studio of the show. In the office pool, there is a 2 to 1 chance someone from WILDE AND FEE will spill coffee onto the main console before Tuesday of next week.

On a serious note, we can't thank Engineer Ray, Corny and Dan V. for all of their hard work on this studio. They are good guys who will make our jobs that much easier. They work behind-the-scenes around the clock making us sound good. This new studio has taken a lot of time and is a dream come true for all of us at the station and on our show. Thanks guys! We appreciate it!!

DADDY DAUGHTER TIME AT THE BALLPARK

I love my daughter and I love baseball. Taking Gabby to The Jake to see The Tribe is such a great time for so many reasons. We often buy the cheap $7 tickets and head up to the top of the stadium to talk, people watch, share "treats" and watch baseball.

Even though the Indians lost to the Cubs 9-2, we had a really good time. Last night's lightning storm and making it to the car before the massive rain hit, was totally worth the night out with my daughter.

I'm not sure if Gabs will grow up to be a big sports fan like her dad or not...but I do hope she remembers how special these times have been together.

FATHER'S DAY 2006

It's very cool bein' "Gabby's Daddy". Father's Day is always a great reminder of the best job I have. I love working on the radio in the morning, but more importantly, bein' Dad rocks!
RANDOM GREAT DAD MOMENTS

*The birth of my daughter was the most powerful and amazing moment of my life. I had no idea I was going to break down and cry my eyes out and be that happy.

*Coaching my daughter's soccer team has been a blast! It's a passion we both share. There was one goal in particular, where she scored and ran back up the field with both arms in the air. I was a very proud pa pa.

*Parent/teacher day for the first time. Gabby got high marks.

*Watching Gabby play with other kids on the playground during pre-school without her knowing I was watching.

*Her random big word vocabulary moments.

*Seeing Gabby hit a small bucket of balls at the driving range with her lil lefty clubs and dreaming of one day playin' on a real course with her.

*When she pulls lyrics out of songs and asks what they mean.

*One day recently, Gabby said out of the blue, "You're a good Dad."

Happy Father's Day

FESTIVE FRIDAY

Friend of the show ANDREA VECHIO stopped by the show to talk movies. She loves the new JACK BLACK flick NACHO LIBRE...says it's hilarious.....She also likes the new SANDRA BULLOCK flick THE LAKEHOUSE.....

Take the kids to go see CARS.....hilarious!

Below former American Idol JOHN PETER LEWIS (JPL) stopped by to perform his new song..he was very cool . Nice guy. Good song.

John Connor got in on the hair removal show on Friday. He had his belly hair shaved off before starting his show this morning. Everyone who works on THE WILDE AND FEE show assumed he was wearing a sweater that was too small. We donated the shaven hair to the CLEVELAND METROPARKS ZOO for
thier rainforrest display. Thanks John!

WILDE AND FEE CAUGHT UP IN THE FRAY...

Listener Mary checked in Thursday morning to beg for tickets to our FRAY Q LOUNGE...not only did we give her the hook up, we let her co-host the Q&A and got her tix to the HOB show. Our listeners ask, we walk the talk.

Mary actually carried the interview-leading us to believe that our jobs might actually be in trouble....

Q104 night stallion TIM RICHARDS was also spotted at THE FRAY Q LOUNGE Thursday afternoon. Tim, who got into the lounge using the fake name "Skippy The Program Director" was later removed by force by the Q104 Street Team. In this picture, Tim is confused why he is having a photo-op with half of WILDE AND FEE. He later said, "What? I don't get to meet the band??? Don't you know who I am?" Despite his lack of credentials, Tim is a very funny man who puts on a great show at night. You should check it out after 7pm! ...uh, that's if his key card to the building still works....

RANDOM NOTES: The ROB THOMAS/JEWEL show at BLOSSOM was ok.....ok is not great...but it was just kinda ok. I like both Rob and Jewel. I just felt the venue was too much for this show. I think it would have been much better in a smaller venue.

TRIBE LOST again to the YANKEES .....oy!

Join us for FESTIVE FRIDAY....we are shavin' a real dad's back on the air..should be a good time as we count down to FATHER'S DAY. Listener Mary reviews the FRAY concert at HOB and your FESTIVE FRIDAY FONE CALLS all morning long.

LISTENER SCOTT HITS A GRAND SLAM ON WHATEVER WEDNESDAY!!!!

Scott and Cathy stopped by the show on WHATEVER WEDNESDAY to share their exciting engagement story. Scott asked Cathy to marry her in the fourth inning of a TRIBE game. In the third inning, Cathy had caught a homerun ball hit by BEN BROUSSARD. The Tribe went on to win the game big...talk about good karma heading into their marriage. Scott and Cathy will be married at The Jake on September 8th. We figure there will be plenty of seats....Scott and Cathy , please send our invitation to WILDE AND FEE, One Radio Lane, Cleveland , OHIO 44114.

Senator John McCain was on the show this morning. He talked about his recent trip to the WESTSIDE MARKET and OSU. He even gave us a "GO BUCS!" He gets our vote!

We have at least one...victim...uh, contestant in our SHAVE DAD's BACK contest....We plan to shave and wax dad as a gift for FATHER's DAY. Do you have a hairy dad? Email us at WildeandFee@Q104.com or call our show at 216-578-0104.

On Thursday, we blind side LORRAINE BROCCO with our shocking SOPRANOS FINALE theory. We know who kills TONY in the final episode ever..uh, we think we do.

RANDOM WILDE AND FEE NOTES: Our new studio should be complete one week from today. The engineers are ahead of schedule and doing a fine job. Big ups to SKIPPY our program director for his appearance on our show today. We are pumped to host the FRAY Q LOUNGE tomorrow afternoon. We are also rollin' to the show at HOB tomorrow night.

FORMAL APOLOGY

I want to formally apologize to my good friend Brian who was the victim of an unfortunate decision that I made yesterday.

After a dinner at a Mexican restaurant late Monday evening, Brian and I decided we would get JUMBO milkshakes at a nearby Steak and Shake. After only having some of the shake, I pulled up next to a dumpster in the parking lot to toss it in the garbage. I decided I didn't want to have such a large shake before calling it a night. As I went to toss it out of the passenger side of the car (where Brian was sitting), I did not realize the window was not open. The shake exploded all over Brian and inside my car. Brian, a snappy dresser, had his outfit destryoed. He was not happy. Brian, thank you for coming on the show this morning to share your story. I apologize for sending you home smelling like vanilla. No, really , I do. If it had been an ice coffee from Starbucks, I would not feel as bad....but the JUMBO VANILLA SHAKE was a bit much. I've always liked you Brian...hopefully we can work through this.

NOTE: The picture of Brian and I in the upper left was during happier times at a CAVS play-off game. Note the injury below his left eye. It was caused when an anonymous fan threw a giant "Q" pretzel into our luxury box striking Brian in the face.

TUESDAY MORNING!

Great to have the crew back at full strength. Congrats to Glenn The Funny Song Man on his marriage! Welcome back from Costa Rica Rebecca! Producer Nick goes on vacation next week.

Sandra Bullock checked in with WILDE AND FEE this morning to talk up her new movie. Street Teamer Chrystal says it's a quality flick. "Sandy" was great on the show. Very real and down to earth. She moves up three notches on the TOP 5 list.

Lots of calls about Mayor Frank Jackson not supporting a retractable roof on Browns Stadium. The goal is to attract a SUPERBOWL to Cleveland....we came up with the top five reasons Mayor Frank doesn't want to put a roof over the stadium....

5. God wants to keep a closer eye on the Browns unruly players and their antics.

4. The stench from the DAWG POUND needs some air to breathe.

3. The way the team has been playin', the fans need as many exits as possible.

2. The military flyby is the most entertaining part of a Browns game...without it, there would be nothing to cheer about.

1. A roof at Browns Stadium would attract a SUPERBOWL to Cleveland...reminding Browns fans about something they can't have....

REAL FOOTBALL
Bummed about the US soccer team losin' their first game in the WORLD CUP. Bring on ITALY.....

Father's Day is Sunday. Do you have a hairy dad? Is the father of your kids too hairy? Email us at WildeandFee@Q104.com We want to wax him live on our show after we shave "Wilde and Fee" into his back and photo op for the blog. Big prizes up for grabs...

TOMORROW's SHOW: It's WHATEVER WEDNESDAY-call us with WHATEVER is on your mind. Senator John McCain talks about his new book. LOVECOURT!

FESTIVE TIMES ON FESTIVE FRIDAY....

A crazy week at Q104 this week. Construction began on our new world class facility. We are all very excited about getting this massive studio upgrade. It will make the station sound even better!
Thanks to JEN TOOHEY for covering for REBECCA all week. Jen did a great job (as always). I can't wait to hear about REBECCA's trip to Costa Rica. She was pretty pumped for the well-deserved vacation. Our show will be back at full strength on Monday as we count down to Father's Day with some awesome stuff for dad. We have several surprises next week including tickets to all the great shows coming to Cleveland next week; Rob Thomas and Jewel, THE FRAY Q LOUNGE and Bruce Springsteen. So kick back and enjoy THE WHATEVER WEEKEND and we'll see you Monday morning 5:30-ish to ten!

HAL SPARKS stopped by the show Friday morning. You know him from vh-1 I LOVE THE 80's and I LOVE THE 90's. He was awesome as host of TALK SOUP. He's in town this weekend at HILARITIES. He is a naturally funny man and a great guest for FESTIVE FRIDAY.

TRACY MORGAN and some other guy stoppped by the show Thursday. As you can see from the picutres below on the blog, he was much more interested in JEN TOOHEY who was celebratin' her birthday. I went to his show later that night at The Improv...pretty heavy duty stuff...I needed a shower after the show...

TRACY MORGAN HELPS JEN, UH, CELEBRATE HER BIRTDAY....KINDA...

TRACY MORGAN stopped by the show Thursday to help JEN TOOHEY celebrate her birthday....Tracy gave Jen..uh, a pedicure as a gift.......
Special thanks to Jen and her family for callin' into our show this morning to help her celebrate her birtday. Her family sang happy birthday to her live on the air...as did JOSH KELLY later in the show. Jen's bestest female friend Rachel also stopped by the show to call Jen out on her kissing contest. For the record, Jen reports that she kissed less than 40 boys in a tenth month span. We are still checking those numbers.....

WHATEVER WEDNESDAY

Jared The Subway Guy stopped by the show this morning to talk about the new Subway in Beechwood...Can you believe he used to weigh 425 pounds!!! Jen, always up for a photo-op, nestled into Jared asking how she could score a free lunch.

Construction is underway for the new Q104 studio. Above, the old studio is gutted. The new world class facility is expected to be completed in around two weeks....ish....

Jen gets in the way of the contruction crew and I as WE were building the new studio. Jen, pictured with the hammer, broke a nail picking up a 2 by 4.

MY DAUGHTER "GRADUATES"

My daughter Gabby arrives home from school as she finished first grade Tuesday! I feel older as she gets smarter. At our house, we say Gabby "graduated" first grade. It's a lil tradition we started when Gabby told us she had "graduated" kindergarten. We went to dinner at a restaurant of Gabby's choice.
I'm so proud of her passion for reading and her overall attitude. She a great kid and a wonderful young lady!

TOOHEY IN DAH HOUSE!

WILDE AND FEE AND TOOHEY!

Jen Toohey is in all week for Rebecca, who is vacationing in Costa Rica. Jen will cover the news, Celebrities Uncensored and will handle the jack-hammer during the studio reconstruction slated to start tomorrow. Jen will celebrate her 31st bday with us on Thursday morning. Make sure you dial us in...she is going out with her "real friends" on Wednesday night, which should make for a pretty festive show on Thursday. Jen is a strong broadcaster and a dear friend.

BEHIND THE SCENES OF WILDE AND FEE

Jen Toohey carefully ponders a news story as associate producer Cherise finds great comedy in the behind-the-scenes banter of the show. She later said, "How come you guys aren't funny like this when the microphones are on??"

It takes a great team behind-the-scenes to put on a great morning show...and when we find that team, we'll let you know...in the meantime, "Lethargic Mark" (left) has been covering for Glenn The Funny Song Man as Producer Nick just stands around looking cool.

FAVORITE ALL TIME GUEST

Without question, FRANK CALIENDO has been my all time favorite WILDE AND FEE guest. His ability to do impressions of famous people carrying on a conversation with one another is priceless. Each time he stops by the show, I just sit back and laugh. From the AL PACINO "WHOO-HA" to President BUSH trying to spell, I was rollin' all morning!

This morning, Frank took calls as DR. PHIL and his MADDEN, as always, was dead on. Frank will be at HILARITIES all weekend...uh, try the veal.

As I explained to Frank that he was my all-time favorite guest, he nestled in for this photo op.

It's worth noting that Frank wore this red shirt for his GOOD COMPANY appearance on channel 3 the day before. It will be interesting to see if he has a new shirt for his Friday night show that I will be attending. For everyone's sake, I hope so.

On a serious note, I'm very happy for Frank's success. He has certainly earned it. Thanks for making our show funnier Frank!

WHAT DO YOU DO ABOUT OTHER PEOPLE'S KIDS???

Hi Allan,

I couldn’t get through on the phone this morning and I am unable to listen to you at work; however, I still wanted to get my “two cents worth” in.

I am so sick and tired of children being everyone else’s responsibility to discipline and raise EXCEPT the parent’s. This is why our society is going to hell in a hand basket. If you don’t teach children how to behave and to show respect for others, they turn into burdens on our society rather than productive beings.

Parents need to raise their own children. It is not the responsibility of a restaurant manager to baby sit someone else’s kids. The manager needs to manage the restaurant, not my children. My children are MY responsibility. This is how I have remedied situations like this in the past. I have three children. Here’s how I’ve handled these problems in the past rather than shirking my duties as a mother and putting them onto some poor manager:

Son #1 throws a hissy fit in a store because I said “No” to a toy he wanted. I grabbed him firmly by the arm and walked him out of the store very quickly. Once in the car, I told him he will never see the inside of a store again, and for 4 years, he never saw the inside of a store again.

Son #1 and son #2 start acting up in a restaurant. I tell them if they keep it up, we’re leaving and they will not see the inside of any restaurant for a very long time…..IF EVER. They keep it up. I quickly pay the waitress for our half-eaten food. Apologize to her and the patron’s around me and then I remove my children from the restaurant. They don’t even see a McDonalds for the next two years.

My daughter and son #1 constantly fight over the computer and who’s turn it is to be on it, how long the other has been on it, etc. I tell both of them that I am sick and tired of hearing the arguments. They need to work it out together. I then tell them if I hear ANY more arguing over the computer, I’m getting rid of it. The next day another computer fight started. I immediately disconnected the computer, put an ad in the paper and sold it. There hasn’t been a computer in our house for 3 ½ years now. They say it sucks to have to go to the library to do all their homework all the time. But, they don’t fight over the video games….AT ALL. Funny how that works. Another year and I might, just might break down and get another computer. Of course, the same rule will apply, if I hear fighting….it goes.

Parents need to stop being so damn lazy and discipline their children. If you can’t control your own children in public, then don’t go out unless you have a baby sitter. Don’t make a sales clerk, waitress or manager baby sit your kids, pay for someone to do it and get out with your spouse or your friends and enjoy yourself.

Teach your kids to clean, cook, do dishes and do laundry. Everyone in the house needs chores to appreciate what they have.

I’m sorry, but this one just irked the crap out of me. I have 3 kids, you need to train them early, while they are young and you will reap the rewards when they are older. Every time one of my kids sleeps over a friend’s house, I get a phone call from the parents telling my how much they enjoy my child, how polite my child is and they can’t believe that my child helped them with the dishes.

We went out to dinner with my 6 year old last week because the other kids had sleep overs. The owner of the restaurant came to our table and said he is so impressed with this young man. The waitress could not get over how polite (and funny) my son was. Yes, it took the extra effort on my part, but now we can go any where with the kids, and we enjoy ourselves, and most importantly, others around them get to enjoy their night out.

If you don’t want to parent a child….don’t have any. Yes, it’s hard, it takes a lot of work, but it is so very worth it in the end.

Ok, I’m off my soapbox now.

Sorry, just had to get that off my chest. You guys are great, thanks for every morning!!!

Patti C.
