The PURPLE PIRATES came from behind to tie their game Saturday at 2-2. In the picture, my daughter Gabby and I huddle up on game day trying to stay warm. After a slow start, the team played very well. Gabby blasted several shots at goal but was unable to score. She said the best part of the game was the post-game hot chocolate.

TAILGATING WITH THE BRAYLON BUNCH AT BROWNS GAME
The Browns lost to Baltimore on Sunday. Before the game, I had a chance to hang with THE BRAYLON BUNCH.
Mario and the crew were quite festive as always and are clearly the most festive group in the Muni Lot.
My good friend Jeff came in from out of town to tailgate and hang at the Browns game Sunday.
The Browns lost a tough one late. Despite another tough loss, we had a blast pre game in the Muni lot.

ANNA NICOLE SMITH FEEDBACK...
I listen to your show every morning on my way into work. I have always enjoyed listening but the other morning I was really taken aback when you made the comment that Anna Nicole is responsible for her son's death. . wow, that is pretty harsh and such a strong statement. Do you really know this woman enough to make a statement like that, for all we know she could be acting drugged up and all loopy. .it's an image and this IS Hollywood we are talking about. I am not a fan of hers but her son is a straight A student who seemed to stay out of trouble and in the brief images that I have seen the two of them together he has a look of love when he looks at her. We might not agree with the lifestyle that she leads but I save such comments as holding someone responsible for the death of their child to people like Susan Smith who actually killed their children. Don't kick someone when they are down. . it has to be hard enough to lose a child tha t you raised alone but to have to deal with such judgement ontop if it all isn't really necessary. Thank you for listening.
Marie
Marie,
Thank you for sending me feedback about the show. You are probably right, I did judge from afar. I just feel that ANNA NICOLE SMITH hasn't projected the strongest image as a responsible mother based on what we have seen in the media. It makes me sad that she lost her son at a time when she was celebrating the birth of her second child. It must be so hard to raise kids in the public eye. As a single parent, it's even tougher. I often feel that these kids are not given a chance when born into the Hollywood lifestyle. Your point is well taken. Sorry if I offended you or anyone else. ~a

PURPLE PIRATES LOSE FIRST GAME OF THE SEASON...YET, STILL FESTIVE!
Despite Saturday's tough 3-1 loss, The Purple Pirates managed to enjoy a festive snack time. The early 9am games are always so tough. It's tough to get the kids fired up for the game at that hour and it messes with the coaching staff's Starbuck's run. Saturday's game was close, but we definately felt the effects of Wednesday washed out practice. One of our best players on the team had the bottom of his shoe fall off, limiting his play. We also didn't put enough sugar in the team drink jug.
The coaches were sporting the new, uh, lavender coaching shirts. Uh, they go great with the whole PURPLE Pirate thing....kinda. Whoever said "Real men can wear lavender.....was wrong." Although I felt much closer to the men on the coaching staff, I was uncomfortable at times during Saturday's game. And, whoever said stripes make you look thinner," wasn't exactly right either.....pictured left to right: Coach Tom, me, Coach Marty and Coach Dom.
Cocah Tom and Coach Marty discuss a new offensive scheme as the rest of the team is exhausted on the bench. Purple Pirate Alex looks over to Gabby and Jack as he ponders what's really in jack's cup...clearly, not an energy drink of any kind. Our conditioning has come under fire in the local papers. Wednesday's treat night and emphasis on bein' festive has over-shadowed running and drills.

THANKS JEN! WELCOME BACK REBECCA!
WELCOME BACK REBECCA! Rebecca returned Thursday morning after a few days off on the West Coast. She returned to a visit from RALPHIE MAY from Last Comic Standing. The timing of RALPHIE's visit was a bit off as we discussed several disturbing news stories. We stirred things up questioning ANNA NICOLE SMITH as a parent. We took a very controversial call from a caller who thought we were not sensitive to the death of ANNA NICOLE's son. Despite the bad timing, RALPHIE MAY pulled out some "sunshine and lollipops" to lighten the mood! JEN TOOHEY is one of my favorite all-time people. Special thanks to her for putting up with us while REBECCA was on vacation! Also, thanks JEN for letting us expose your relationship with Q104's TIM RICHARDS. You both are awesome people ..and I wish you both the very best!

ON THE SET OF CHANNEL 3's GOOD COMPANY
In our attempt to REVERSE THE CURSE of the Cleveland Browns, the cast of GOOD COMPANY welcomed us to perform a ritual at the end of their show last week. WILDE AND FEE Senior Browns Voo Doo Correspondant RANDALL SCOTT along with INTERN MIKE performed the bizzare reversing of the curse.

PURPLE PIRATES SOCCER OPENS WITH WIN ON SATURDAY
My daughters soccer team opened the season with an 8-0 win on Saturday afternoon. "The Purple Pirates" played an awesome team game. Gabby almost scored her first goal of the season when she hit the post on a breakaway. As coach, I'm very excited about this team. We have a great group of kids and a wonderful group of parents who should help make the season a blast. After only one win last season, opening with a win was very exciting.

THE BEER LADY: ROSE MISIC
A couple of years ago, one of my lifelong goals was answered when I caught a homerun ball at The Jake. As a huge baseball fan, it was a great thrill to be on the porch when CASEY BLAKE blasted a homerun that I caught as it bounced once and into my hand. It's amazing how you become a mini-celeb as you walk around the ballpark and people recognize you as the guy who caught the ball.
As I walked around the ballpark that night, I took a few pictures with Slider, a random fan and a very kind beer lady named ROSE MISIC.
I posted the picture on our website and it was later spotted by a listener who knew who the beer lady was. ROSES's daughter Denise reached out via email to let me know that the picture was her mother.
Several months ago, ROSE became ill and DENISE kept in touch with me updating her mom's health. In July, ROSE was able to return to The Jake, this time as a fan.
ROSE passed away on Friday. She was 76 years old. I can't say I knew her, but she gave me a big smile when I talked to her at The Jake that day. I was sad to learn that she had passed away, but impressed with her daughter Denise. Denise stayed in touch on behalf of her mom. She cared for her mom during a very trying 14 months. I may not know them hardly at all, but I do know they are special people and that ROSE will be missed.
I agree with DENISE, every picture does tell a story...
Hi Allan,
My mom passed away early yesterday (Friday) morning. I was with her at the nursing home, and she passed peacefully. She's no longer suffering.
The wake is Monday and the funeral is Tuesday. It will be in the paper tomorrow.
The tribe won last night. I bet they did for mom.
Mom is up in heaven, teaching God how to polka, and serving beer to people, including her brother Tony, who passed away unexpectedly in June.
Thanks again for taking the picture with her, and asking about her. They say every picture has a story.
thanks again.

FALL SOCCER 2006 IS UNDERWAY
Fall soccer started this past week. I love coaching my daughter's team. We have so much fun together. This will be an exciting team with several kids returning. We plan on being a much better team than we were in the spring, where we only won one game. Assistant Coach Tom's son Jack is returning this season. He is pictured with Gabs.
Below, Gabby practices heading the ball. In her first attempt, the ball won....she is startin' to get the hang of it now....
I'm looking forward to having several kids returning to the team. We also have a fun coaching staff with Assistant coaches Tom, Marty and Dom. No matter what happens, the kids will have a blast this season. As coaches, we feel more prepared than ever and have several festive moments planned for the team. We should have a team name set by the end of next week. The games start the week of September 9th. I'll keep you up to date with how the games go and will have several pix on here to document our "dream season".
