PURPLE PIRATES LOSE FIRST GAME OF THE SEASON...YET, STILL FESTIVE!

Despite Saturday's tough 3-1 loss, The Purple Pirates managed to enjoy a festive snack time. The early 9am games are always so tough. It's tough to get the kids fired up for the game at that hour and it messes with the coaching staff's Starbuck's run. Saturday's game was close, but we definately felt the effects of Wednesday washed out practice. One of our best players on the team had the bottom of his shoe fall off, limiting his play. We also didn't put enough sugar in the team drink jug.
The coaches were sporting the new, uh, lavender coaching shirts. Uh, they go great with the whole PURPLE Pirate thing....kinda. Whoever said "Real men can wear lavender.....was wrong." Although I felt much closer to the men on the coaching staff, I was uncomfortable at times during Saturday's game. And, whoever said stripes make you look thinner," wasn't exactly right either.....pictured left to right: Coach Tom, me, Coach Marty and Coach Dom.

Cocah Tom and Coach Marty discuss a new offensive scheme as the rest of the team is exhausted on the bench. Purple Pirate Alex looks over to Gabby and Jack as he ponders what's really in jack's cup...clearly, not an energy drink of any kind. Our conditioning has come under fire in the local papers. Wednesday's treat night and emphasis on bein' festive has over-shadowed running and drills.
