My daughter Gabby and I finally found a good day to get out on our bikes this spring. Over the past couple of years, biking has become a big part of our lives. Gabs loves to get to the park. When the weather finally kicks in, I'll hit several of the trails in the area. I'm also pondering another PEDAL TO THE POINT this summer.
WOMEN'S SPORTS EQUAL TO MEN??
With the women's FINAL FOUR tournament coming to town this weekend, we discussed the importance of women's sports on the show this morning. One of our listeners suggested that women's sports are not as important as men's sports.
I couldn't disagree more. Women's sports continue to grow and create role models and build confidence in young women all across the country. No, women don't get all the recognition the deserve (yet), but I have seen several examples at the U-8 soccer level as a coach. Having an 8-year-old daughter play soccer has been one of the best experiences of my life and my daughter's life. Watching Gabby's confidence build each season has been so exciting. Having boys and girls play on the same team as equals has been a great learning experience for everyone involved. Men's sports may get all the big TV coverage, but in the trenches, men's and women's sports are equally as important. Women's sports have made great strides not only in basketball and soccer, but also in golf and even auto racing. I'm encouraged by more and more female sports role models for my daughter. Sports represents health and competition. My hope is that women are treated equally when it comes to funding programs at every level. I encourage your comments. THE JOURNEY TO 40 BEGINS.....
If you listen to the show, I am sure you have heard me talk about my weight. It's been an issue for a long time and I have finally decided to do something about it.
I joined LA WEIGHT LOSS and I'm already down 14 pounds! Most of it at this point is water-weight I'm sure...but I'm thrilled at the early success. If you have struggled with your weight, I'm sure you agree that it's a tough battle to win. We all have our weaknessess, and this has been mine. I have always avoided stepping on a scale and have lived in denial about "THE NUMBER" for years....This week, I got "THE NUMBER". I will share it on here soon, but at this point, I have all the motivation I need. I also have "THE PICTURE". A picture of me at my highest weight. I plan to post that here soon too.
I've gotten to a place where it is time. I turn 40 in December. I have no fear of turning 40, but I do fear my weight. Frankly, I'm disappointd that I have let it get to here.
I'm excited to begin this new journey. I will succeed. It's time. I will update my progress on here and invite your comments, stories and thoughts along the way.

CLEVELAND CLINIC HEARTHROB BALL
On Saturday night, my wife Sue and I attended The Cleveland Clinic Hearthrob Ball at The Intercontinental Hotel. Four heroes who suffered from difficult illness were honored. Their stories were both powerful and inspiring. The story of 22-yearold JEFF NEWBAUER really touched me. He was the guy who visited 26 baseball stadiums before he passed away. As a huge baseball fan, his story hit close to home. He was clearly a special person who didn't let cancer take away who he is. He touched many people in his young life. I wish I knew him.

CHECK KEY WEST OFF OF THE LIFE LIST!
I am a firm believer in having a LIFE LIST...A list of things you want to accomplish in your life. Things you want to do and places you want to see. This past week, I took a couple of days off to do St. Patrick's Day in KEY WEST and had a blast!!! Not only did I get a chance to tan my freshly bald head, I enjoyed Key Lime Pie, great seafood, great times with friends and I kept CORONA in business for years to come! I also enjoyed a few cigars along the way. If you have been there before, you have appreciate such great bars as SLOPPY JOE'S, THE HOG'S BREATH and RICK'S. I love this picture...I think I actually met the real ERNEST HEMMINGWAY...who knew he was still alive!

RUNNIN' FOR THE BORDER.....
INTERN LURCH is leaving the show Monday. He's been a great help to us and will be missed. His experience working the drive-thru at the Chardon Taco Bell has served him well. There is no doubt that it has provided him with a strong foundation to a wonderful broadcast career. Good luck Lurch! Have a HALF POUND BEEF COMBO BURRITO on us!
